本校以三大基本精神基礎,孕育內化為「愛人如己,關懷弱勢」之核心價值思想,再佐以醫事專業人才生涯發展所應具備之特殊涵養,進而演繹出四大校級基本素養,包括「敬天愛人」、「社會與環境責任」、「團隊精神」與「人文關懷」。
基本素養通常意指一種信仰思想、責任承擔、處事態度及胸襟情懷,綜合內化而成為個體發展與群體互動之基本要素與指引。
學生則需要透過妥適之核心能力習得,始能將這些基本素養展現於外,以獲致最佳之個體發展與群體互動平衡。
因此本校特訂定「專業與創新」、「主動學習」、「溝通與合作」、「自省與批判」及「國際觀與競爭力」等核心能力,作為培育學生能力之具體向度。
基本素養之涵育與核心能力之習得是一種持續之過程,作為大學教育之一環,本校通識教育透過課程規劃設計與潛在課程活動之推展,一方面不斷涵育學生之基本素養,一方面亦成就階段性核心能力之習得。
為有效檢視通識教育之成效,特依據校級之核心能力範疇,訂定「批判思考與價值判斷」、「語言溝通與合作精神」、「多元文化與全球視野」及「終身學習與全人開展」作為通識教育擬培育之核心能力。
