Our Story — Continuing from Mackay Medical University…
Carrying forward the Mackay tradition of “go wherever there is need,” we are committed to expanding service team bases in rural areas, addressing the lack of educational resources and children’s emotional challenges. We launched the “Weekend Special Task Force” and “Online Tutoring,” and gradually developed mini medical camps in rural counties, as well as the Crown Northern Coast New Immigrant Children’s Camp. During weekends and holidays, university students provide ongoing tutoring, companionship, and life mentoring, strengthening emotional bonds with local children.
Through repeated visits and service trips, students witness the diverse beauty of Taiwan, see the needs of local communities, meet people who require support, and learn how to give and share their abilities. Students independently design programs such as daily English, music and movement, treasure hunts, science experiments, and character‑building theater, making learning extend beyond textbooks and increasing fun and interaction. These efforts continue every winter and summer break.
We continue to gain deeper understanding of local cultures, learning environments, and community development. We also arrange cultural exchanges with local youth to strengthen the connection between the camps and the community, further building the team’s sense of unity and emotional ties with local children and churches.
