A Longitudinal Education of Medical Humanities

The curricula based on the core goals to the sixth year aim to build a literacy of medical humanities.

First year: “knowing yourself” : students will understand about themselves and construct an ideal image of the role of a doctor.
Second year: “knowing others” : students will learn to comprehend the patients, their families, and colleagues, and cultivate their abilities to respect interpersonal differences and multifaceted thinking.
Third year: “knowing life” : students will comprehend the meaning of life and the boundaries in medicine.
Fourth year: “knowing love” : students will learn to display their mentality of medical humanities by helping and caring for others.
Fifth to sixth year: “knowing application” : students will enter the hospital and apply their mentality of medical humanities.

In addition to the Curricula of Medical humanities, related activities are organized to demonstrate the student’s mentality of medical humanities: the “Memorial Ceremony for the Cadaver” in the third year, the narrative practice in “Holistic Healthcare Conference (HHCC)” in the fifth year, and the “Medical Practice in Rural Areas” in the sixth year.
