MOTTO

The motto of MacKay Medical College is “Worship God, love people, humbly forbear, pursue excellence.”

MISSION

The mission of MacKay Medical College is inspired by the selfless dedication of Dr. George Leslie MacKay. In “My Final Resting Place,” a poem penned just before his death, he wrote, “My heartstrings to Taiwan can never be cut. I devote my life to this island.” We aim to inculcate in students this same spirit of devotion and charity in keeping with the admonition of St. Paul, “Let us not become weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we shall reap a harvest, if we do not give up.” (NIV, Epistle to the Galatians 6:9) We strive for quality education and encourage research excellence so that our graduates are well-prepared to become outstanding medical professionals who love others as well as themselves. In addition, we educate our students to have compassion for patients who live in rural communities where medical resources and health care are scarce.

GOALS

• To nurture elite medical professionals who are holistically educated in body, mind, and spirit to continue lifelong learning that is committed to social responsibility with integrity, cultural sensitivity, and professional knowledge.
• To recruit highly qualified, excellent faculty members and to assist all faculty to promote the research capability and the academic reputation of the school by rigorous scholarship and creative initiatives in their individual professional fields.
• To build a close relationship between MacKay Memorial Hospital and MacKay Medical College, so that important medical and educational systems can be integrated to carry on the spirit of “devotion to serve and care for all disadvantaged people”.
• To create a quality environment for teaching, learning, and research by maintaining a sustainable eco-friendly campus that demonstrates the healthful benefits of a natural environment on people and communities.
